Janusz Wojciechowski, who will become EU Commissioner for Agriculture in the near future, has not yet taken the position, but he already has a candidate for the head of his cabinet. According to Wirtualna Polska, Wojciechowski was Maciej Golubiewski, the current Consul General of the Republic of Poland in New York, and Ursula von der Leyen, who had received a letter in this case.
The contracting authority confirmed this information. – At the moment I am waiting to swear on the new composition of the EC and prepare for new tasks – he said.
Who is Maciej Golubiewski?
Golubiewski has been Consul General of the Republic of Poland in New York since 2017 and has worked in a number of EU Member States over the last decade. In 2008 he moved to the European Commission and later to the European External Action Service (2011).
For four years he dealt with the regional politics of East Africa and the countries of the Indian Ocean. (...) In 2012-2014, he dealt with the definition of the EU's positions on the EU External Council in relation to the developing conflict in Syria. From 2014 to 2016 he was Deputy EU Ambassador to the EU Delegation in Lebanon (Beirut) and Head of the Policy and Media Division of the Delegation – we read on the website of the consulate negotiations on the composition of the new European Commission.
Golubiewski is appointed at least until December to the head of the cabinet Janusz Wojciechowski. Originally it was planned to vote in the second half of October on a new composition of the European Commission headed by Ursula con Leyen.
However, there were problems with the election of some commissioners: from the beginning, before the hearings, the Legal Affairs Committee rejected candidates from Hungary and Romania for conflicts of interest. Last week, members of the Committee on Industry and the Internal Market rejected a French candidate for allegations of corruption.
